We had been to Tuscany before.
We visited Florence and Sienna. We even rented a car and drove through the area. But, this trip was different. Staying at Montestigliano gave the trip a completely different quality.
What strikes us most about Tuscany is it’s intensity. The colors are intense. The food is intense. The wine is intense.
Being from the Pacific Northwest, we know views.
But the Tuscan views are different and, yes, intense. The many shades of green contrast sharply with the patina of the buildings. It is all mountains, so the views are everywhere. And, the view will be capped with a building that is hundreds of years old, still standing and still working.
Staying on a working farm in a two hundred year old villa put us right in the middle of the experience. It is the only way to see Tuscany.
